While installing and configuring Site Recovery Manager 5.1 I came across a few VMs that had to be protected that also had RDMs. The volumes they were located in were not suitable for replication which meant I had to move them to different volumes and sometimes even to different filers. This is quite easily done using ndmpcopy. This article describes the procedure for moving RDMs that are part of a Microsoft Cluster to a different volume on the same filer as well as to a different filer.
Note that all storage is located on NetApps.
Also note that this article assumes that all required volumes and datastores are already created, as well as correct initiatorgroups, zoning etc.
Forwarding DNS Server

This is the installation of bind on SLES 11 to create a forwarding DNS Server. This is installed on the proxy server since that is the only server which has internet access. The main DNS servers (which handle the internal domain) will then use this DNS server as their forwarding server.

I used to install vCenter 5.1 using the simple install method. I like it easy. Then… I had to configure vCenter Linked Mode. Then I got bitten. It turned out that if you do a vCenter 5.1 simple install, the Single Sign On component gets installed like a single site SSO. So I had to reinstall, and that's what I did.
